Prevent or Treat Hair Color Buildup

Thousands, if not millions, of Colourer’s are experiencing a significant crisis in their Hairs ecology, but they are totally blind to the gravity of the situation at this very time. A condition known as Color Buildup may wreak havoc if not addressed. We may have overstated the importance of this issue in the first paragraph, but in a world where hair contact comes before eye contact, Colour Build Up is a real threat to your hair color right now.

What Does Color Build Up Mean?

Hair color buildup occurs when we use too much natural organic hair colour. Take, as an example, the average root touch-up. If you want your hair to look healthy and uniform in color, you shouldn’t stop at coloring simply the new growth; you need to also color the ends. Repeatedly doing so causes layers of color to build up inside the hair strand. That’s called “color buildup,” by the way.

Why does Colour Build Up matter?

Permanent Hair Color remains in the Hair until it is trimmed or removed. While washes will diminish the color and sheen, the shampoo based hair colour pigment will remain. Hair will thicken as you continue to color the cuticle of the strands. Eventually, the buildup of dye will render the coloring procedure ineffective, and your hair will look unhealthy and brittle. There are four primary indications of hair color buildup.

Appearance: Hair that lacks shine and vitality is an instant red flag. As your hair absorbs more dye, it becomes darker and flatter, losing the healthy sheen that made it so attractive in the first place.

Texture: The hair texture is up next. Too much coloring shampoo for gray hair can cause your hair to become dry and brittle, and no amount of money will be able to restore that.

Weight: Weight gained by the hair follicle from excess color causes the hair to appear and feel heavy and weighed down.

Uneven Color: A clear indicator of ayurvedic hair dye buildup is the presence of shiny, new regrowth that contrasts with the ends, which are dull.

How to Treat Hair Color Buildup

It’s not easy to get rid of build-up without also getting rid of the color, so we’ll start with the milder methods and work our way up to the stronger ones. Buildup can remove color on its own, so it’s important to deal with this. Here’s everything you need to get the buildup out of your hair.

1. Color safe Products

Check the labels of all your hair care products, from shampoo to styling gel, to ensure that color safe is mentioned. If you want your hair color to last as long as possible, use only products that have been formulated to be safe for use with colored hair.

2. Use Clarifying Shampoo

You should choose a clarifying shampoo that is made specifically for coloured hair. Please follow the label’s recommendations while washing your hair. After washing with the clarifying shampoo, proceed with your regular conditioning routine.

3. Micellar water Products

Products based on micellar water are excellent at removing buildup. If you apply too much dye or are attempting to tone down the intensity of your hair color, a product containing micellar water will help remove the excess. Even while micellar water is great for removing buildup, it will almost certainly lighten your hair by two or more shades.

4. Sulfate Free Products

Sulfate-containing shampoos and conditioners can remove hair color. To maintain your hair color, avoid using sulfate-based shampoos and other hair care products, even if they leave your hair feeling extra clean.

5. Take Cold Shower

While heat can erase color, bathing is required to get rid of residue.  However, this problem may be solved by just adjusting the water temperature. In order to avoid damaging your hair color when washing off buildup, use the lowest water temperature that you can bear.

6. Use Dye Conditioner

It is possible for the color to fade if it is washed often to eliminate build-up. Mix your sulfate-free conditioner with your hair color. If you’ve had professional coloring done, your stylist or colourist should take care of this for you. If you want your hair color to last longer between washes, use a coloured conditioner after shampooing.

7. Try Apple Cider Vinegar

You might try this as a riskier option to clarifying shampoo; it could work. Apple cider vinegar has been shown to work for some, while for others it can remove color. Apple cider vinegar can be used instead of clarifying shampoo to get rid of buildup.

8. Clean Your Hair Brush

Your hairbrush will be contaminated with your hair’s oils and styling products. To avoid returning all the debris you remove back into your hair, be sure to keep the bristles clean. Many methods exist for this, but one of the simplest is to soak the brush with some shampoo and warm water and then use a toothbrush to scrape the bristles.
